American singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. Born in Staten Island,
New York and raised in Wexford, Pennsylvania, she made appearances on the
television series Star Search and The Mickey Mouse Club in her
childhood. Aguilera came to prominence with her debut studio album, Christina
Aguilera (1999); its singles "Genie in a Bottle", "What a

Hot 100. Her follow-up records, Mi
Reflejo and My Kind of Christmas (2000), experienced moderate success

Aguilera's fifth record, Back

jazz music; its singles "Ain't No Other Man", "Hurt" and

International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 3 December 2013
Over one billion people, or approximately 15 per cent of the world’s population, live with some form of disability!
Around the world, persons with disabilities face physical, social,
economic and attitudinal barriers that exclude them from participating
fully and effectively as equal members of society. They are
disproportionately represented among the world’s poorest, and lack equal
access to basic resources, such as education, employment, healthcare
and social and legal support systems, as well as have a higher rate of
mortality. In spite of this situation, disability has remained largely
invisible in the mainstream development agenda and its processes.

singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, former television music competition judge,
and occasional author. Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood,
Louisiana, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows
as a child before signing with Jive Records in 1997. Spears's first and second
studio albums, ...Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!... I Did It
Again (2000), became international successes, with the former becoming the
best-selling album by a teenage solo artist. Title tracks "...Baby One
More Time" and "Oops!... I Did It Again" broke international
sales records. In 2001, Spears released her third album, Britney, and
played the starring role in the film Crossroads. She assumed creative
control of her fourth album, In the Zone (2003), which yielded the

In
2007, Spears's much-publicized personal struggles sent her career into hiatus.
Her fifth record, Blackout, was released later that year, and spawned
hits "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me". Her erratic behavior
and hospitalizations continued through the following year, at which point she
was placed under a still on-going conservatorship. Spears's sixth album, Circus
(2008), included global chart-topping lead single "Womanizer". Its
supporting tour The Circus Starring Britney Spears was the highest-grossing
global concert tour in 2009. Later that October, "3" became Spears's
third single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Her seventh
album, Femme Fatale (2011), became her first to yield three top-ten
singles in the United States: "Hold It Against Me", "Till the
World Ends" and "I Wanna Go". In 2012, Spears was featured on will.i.am's single "Scream & Shout", which topped charts in over 24
countries. She also served as a judge during the second season of the American
version of The X Factor. Spears's eighth studio album Britney Jean
is scheduled to be released in December 2013, at which time she will also begin
the two-year residency show Britney: Piece of Me at the Planet Hollywood
Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Allied Leaders Meet at Tehran Conference
The Tehran Conference was a strategy meeting
held between Joseph Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill from
28 November to 1 December 1943. It was held in the Soviet Embassy in Tehran, Iran
and was the first of the World War II conferences held between all of the "Big
Three" Allied leaders (the Soviet Union, the United States, and the United
Kingdom). It closely followed the Cairo Conference and preceded both the Yalta
and Potsdam] Conferences. Although all three of the leaders
present arrived with differing objectives, the main outcome of the Tehran
Conference was the commitment to the opening of a second front against Nazi
Germany by the Western Allies. The conference also addressed relations between
the Allies and Turkey and Iran, operations in Yugoslavia and against Japan as
well as the envisaged post-war settlement. A separate protocol signed at the
conference pledged the Big Three's recognition of Iran's independence.
